Courses we provide
HV Live Work training courses provide trainee’s with the theoretical knowledge, practical skills and competencies required for HV Live Work on energised high voltage conductors / apparatus.
HV Live Work training courses in either Hot Stick or Glove & Barrier or a combination of both are based on the Australian National Transmission and Distribution Training Package.
The anticipated time frame of the formal training courses for a nominal group of 4 trainees is as follows… (numbers can range from 3 to 5 with 4 being optimal)
- 4 weeks (18 days) for Glove & Barrier to 33kV
Maintain energised HV distribution overhead electrical apparatus (Glove & Barrier)
UETDRDO003
- 4 weeks (18 days) for Stick to 66kV
Maintain energised HV distribution overhead electrical apparatus (Stick)
UETDRDO004
- 5 weeks (23 days) for Glove & Barrier and Stick to 33kV
UETDRDO003 & UETDRDO004
- 6 weeks (27 days) for Glove & Barrier to 33kV and Stick to 66kV
UETDRDO003 & UETDRDO004
HV Live work annual re-assessments/refreshers
- 2 days – Glove & Barrier (G&B) to 33kV
- 2 days – Stick to 66kV
- 3 days – Combination G&B and Stick
- 1 day – Live pole standing for mobile cranes / Pole Erector Recovery Unit (PERU) operators. (Initial and Refresher)
- 1 days- High Voltage Insulator Washing up to 66kV (Initial and Refresher)
Opportunities & Efficiencies
Training is conducted in the field (in situ) making training largely cost neutral as actual work on the network system is done under training.
